(University of Bremen, Institute of Environmental Physics)
Date:   28. & 30.07.2021
Time:   1-5 PM (CET), breaks included

Description:

In the recent years, Python has become a predominant tool for data exploration, analysis and visualization. By combining simple, intuitive syntax and great extension capabilities to the core language, Python is recognized as a powerful tool across various scientific communities.

In this introductory workshop, the focus will be on an efficient scientific workflow with Python. After a quick overview of different (language-agnostic) programming concepts we will mainly focus on:

 - Core concepts (e.g. loops, functions, classes, etc.)
 - Data structures, Input & Output
 - Tools for data exploration and analysis
 - Publication-ready visualizations
 - Reproducible workflow (raw-data -> analysis -> publication -> archive)

Previous experience: None required.

Prior to the workshop:
In the online workshop we will switch between presentation and hands-on excercises for everyone to participate in. This requires an already installed Python ecosystem on the participants computer. Individual consultation before the workshop to help with the installation will be provided.

Platform/Location: Zoom
