Short abstract with content covered during RTD:
This research training day gives a brief introduction to electrical current based geophysical prospection techniques used for near surface and intermediate depth exploration, as well as to paleomagnetic applications used in the CRC1211. We will take a look at the basic methodological concepts for both geophysical disciplines, visit the Rock and Palaeomagnetic Laboratory of the University of Cologne and discuss the principal steps from sampling to analysis and interpretation of the samples. A concise field experiment shall give insights to practical handling of geophysical instruments. Afterwards the collected data will be processed, analyzed and jointly discussed.
