IRTG PhD Retreat at Laacher See (Eifel) in 2022

In 2022, the second IRTG PhD retreat at Laacher See in the Eifel region took place. This time we started our retreat with an excursion day, to understand the Geology of the area, like, volcanic activity and different types of rocks, and analyze the landscape under the expertise of Professor Münker. We had a very productive and exhausting day going to different spots, sometimes climbing and sometimes just enjoying the view.

On the second day, we organized a scientific discussion round in which all of Ph.D. participants had the chance to present their research and also the possibility to talk about their current problems running experiments, not getting results as they expected, facing technical problems, and so on.

We ended our retreat by going to the lake and visiting the town.

It was a very nice experience for all of us, we are happy with the high number of participants, their enthusiasm and attitude. And of course, we are very grateful to Professor Münker for his time and knowledge.
