Start Drilling PAG

Starting on Wednesday the 11^th of October scientist from cluster project A02 (Volker Wennrich, Damian Lopez, Alicia Medialdea Utande, Julia Diederich, Emma Fernandez-Galego, Ascelina Hasberg) started their drilling of the clay pan south of the Rio Loa with the Chilean drilling company Superex.

After transport to the clay pan through dusty terrain, the group of scientist and driller set up the camp and the drill rig. The official start of the drilling is expected to on Thursday morning, trying to gain the whole sediment sequence of this closed basin of up to 60-70m. We are looking forward to get nice cores and will keep you up to date in the following weeks.
