Roswitha von den Driesch (Stadtklangkünstlerin Bonn 2023) and Jens-Uwe Dyffort (Stadtklangkünstler Bonn 2023) will present their previous and ongoing artistic work. At the end of their presentation, they will present first impressions of their excursion with geologists, biologists and climatologists of the CRC 1211 to the Atacama Desert in Chile.

The presentation will be followed by a discussion with the artists Roswitha von den Driesch and Jens-Uwe Dyffort, Prof. Dr. Dietmar Quandt (Professor for Plant Biodiversity and Evolution at the Nees Institute for Biodiversity of Plants - University of Bonn) and Carsten Seiffarth (Project Manager - echoes-soundforum bonn).

echoes - soundforum bonn, the new sound art project of the Beethoven Foundation for Art and Culture of the Federal City of Bonn, combines artistic and scientific research. For the annual theme, Biodiversity of Plants, the Bonner Stadtklangkünstler 2023 are working closely with the Nees Institute for Biodiversity of Plants at the University of Bonn and the international research network CRC1211 (Earth - Evolution at the dry limit) as cooperation partners. Already in October 2022, the two were able to join the CRC1211 summer school and travel together with members of the CRC1211 on a field campaign to the Atacama Desert in Chile to participate in studies of the development of plants in extremely water-scarce areas.
