Description:
The aim of the workshop is to enable participants to create simple plots and perform basic statistical tests with R.
Day 1:
- Basic commands and data structures
- Handling tables
Day 2:
- Simple plot commands
- Grouping data and plots
- Overview over R packages
Day 3:
- Probability theory
- Statistical tests (t, chi-square)
Day 4:
- Statistical tests (ANOVA)
- The problem of multiple testing
Day 5:
- Simple linear regression
- Proposal: Multiple linear regression or Principal component analysis (depending on time and preferences)
Daily schedule:
09:30 a.m. – 11:00 lecture
11:00 a.m. – 11:20 a.m. coffee break
11:20 a.m. – 12:20 a.m. lecture
12:20 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. lunch break
1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. practice session
The schedule may be due to change in agreement with participants.
Previous experience:
No prior knowledge required.
Prior to the workshop:
Although computers are available in the course room you might prefer working with your own. In the latter case please install 'R' (https://www.r-project.org/) and 'rstudio' (https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/#download).
Maximum number of participants:
12 (first come, first served). This workshop is open to PhD students of the IRTG and the GSGS.
